Pantà ploraner (Weeping Swamp)

I am performing a new piece at @museutapies as part of the “Following the Sun” cycle, curated by @gabriel_virgilio_luciani.

𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶 𝘛à𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘴 - 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 18𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳, 13:00-15:00

"In 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘵à 𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘳 (𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘮𝘱), Venus Jasper, creates a raw, stripped-back, ritual music performance based on their upcoming music record 𝘉𝘻𝘻 𝘉𝘻𝘻—a dark industrial-gothic soundwork shaped by personal and planetary grief.Born from speculative fiction, modalities of storytelling and narrative deconstruction, this future-facing folklore speaks of a rotting, turbulent sea and a journey to a mythic swamp-island where decay is sacred and rage has its rituals. Sonically, the work is based on samples of water, insects and metal, paired with a noise machine and supporting haunting vocals."

𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘢, 𝘞𝘦𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘥𝘢𝘺 15𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳, 18:00.

"This artist talk dives into previous works, and explores the emotional and conceptual terrain behind 𝘉𝘻𝘻 𝘉𝘻𝘻 and 𝘞𝘦𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱—offering reflections on swamps as spaces of sacred decay, queer ancestry, and neuroqueer kinship. Venus invites us to consider what it means to relinquish control, to unlearn mastery, and to compost cultural myths of purity, progress, and separation. What if decay is not an end—but a threshold?"

𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 (they/he) is a queer visual artist, singer-performer, educator, writer and curator – currently based in Amsterdam. In their counter-cultural and ritualistic work they envision spirited and sensuous post-capitalisms that spell the decolonization of the Anthropocene, rekindle more-than-human kinship, and forward (neuro)-queer and trans-historic perspectives on ecology, folklore, contemporary culture, spirituality and the self.
