Pantà ploraner (Weeping Swamp) is a raw, stripped-back, 45-minute ritual music performance by Venus Jasper, based on the artist’s forthcoming record 𝘉𝘻𝘻 𝘉𝘻𝘻—a dark industrial-gothic soundwork shaped by both personal and planetary grief.
Sonically, the live work draws from songs featured on the record, weaving together samples of water, insects, and metals, paired with a noise machine and haunting vocals. The performance at Museu Tàpies, Barcelona, presented new musical material and guided participants through a queer eco-spiritual séance centered on climate grief, political grief, and the parallels between wounds in ecosystems and those within the body.
The piece invited the audience into a shared space for emotion and catharsis, voyaging across a turbulent sea toward a mythic swamp-island where decay is sacred and rage has its rituals.
Ritual outline: intro/arrival → welcoming the stones, and the waters, putting on the dress, song: Waves (Oxygen) → welcoming the audience, song: Orbital Flies → adding the last stones, song: Seaweed (she knows) → giving soil to the hands of audience members, song: Murky Murky, Little Bitch Witch → guiding the audience with the stones upstairs in choir, song: All The Rivers.
To conclude the séance, a gentle collective choir procession led participants to the roof of the museum, releasing their feelings—and their ears—into the fresh air above.
