"Our most recent guest on Echoes from the bog is Venus Jasper! A queer visual artist, storyteller, worldbuilder, singer, priestess, and curator based in Amsterdam. Venus joins us to discuss Wetlands Worship, an ongoing research project and upcoming music record built around water, decay, sedimentation, and resistance against political and ecological collapse.
We touch on topics like the non-binary swamp, how wetlands are so good at blurring boundaries between fixed terms like ugly and beautiful, life and decay, stillness and chaos. What the journey to finally let go of the curated artist self was like. What it’s like to voice the swamp and tap into the raw emotions of rage, grief and fury. We talk about the struggles of being an artist but also the simple struggle of navigating the political realities of today.
Most interestingly we get to hear bits of unreleased songs from Venus’ upcoming album which will take you down into the bog like nothing else!
Please enjoy this very special episode of Echoes from the Bog!"
